Technical fats for ruminants: inert, protected or bypass
Protected fats are highly concentrated energy sources that, thanks to specific protection processes, remain inert in the rumen, avoiding interference with fibre fermentation.
Once in the abomasum, they are released and digested with high efficiency in the intestine, providing energy in a safe and sustained way.
This mechanism helps compensate for the energy deficit characteristic of the beginning of lactation, optimising production, fertility and the animal’s body condition.
On the market there are different types of protected fats, each with particular properties:
